First Home Buyers Grant Victoria (VIC)

First Home Buyers in Victoria may be eligible to receive both the federal government’s $7,000 First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) and an additional payment known as the First Home Bonus when purchasing or constructing properties where the value does not exceed $500,000.

How Much is the First Home Bonus?

The First Home Bonus applies to only newly-constructed properties. The total grant amounts available to Victorian first home buyers, depending on your property type and location, is summarised in the below table.

#For contracts entered into after 1 January 2010, to qualify for the Grant, the price of the property or construction of the home must not exceed $750,000.
*For contracts entered into between 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2011, to qualify for the Bonus, the value of the property must not exceed $600,000.

As a first home buyer you may also be eligible for stamp duty concessions as an alternative to the First Home Bonus. Check with your mortgage broker for more information.
